Circumstances feel incredible right now. We are truly just coming to terms with this pandemic and the harsh reality we find ourselves in.  

Here at CareerNation, we want to assure you that while things are hard, and will likely get harder, we will be alright and we can have hope in the future. We will get through this together. Until then, we want to encourage you as recruiters and as companies who have paused their hiring needs for the time being.  

The real question we are facing right now is what do we do with recruitment and as recruiters?  

Many have halted their hiring while our candidates are feeling like their luck has just gotten so much worse in the middle of their job hunt.  

It is hard to know what to do. Is recruiting obsolete right now?  

No.  

There is a unique role we can play in this situation. As recruiters we can consider the future and think ahead. Hope can be found in this and there will be hiring needs on the other side.  

As recruiters we can stay optimistic, squelch fears and set ourselves up for success after this pandemic. We will do this by staying connected to our candidate pool. 

It’s important to keep talking to candidates, reassure them, find out what their skills and career aspirations are, and in doing so we can build rapport, gain their trust and have a ready candidate pool to work with in the following months after this pandemic.  

Many people are feeling helpless right now because there is so little we can all do to help besides do our best to isolate. How privileged are we as recruiters that we can play a part in helping people through this trying time?  

By staying connected to your candidates, you will then have a pool of candidates that trust you, have a solid relationship with you, and who know you are really going to be working with them.  

We are fortunate to have this opportunity in this time. Again, we want to reassure you, even as things do get worse, there is reason to be hopeful. We will get through this.
